Flooding

So... I live in Colorado...
There has been some terrible flooding here, as I'm sure many of you may have heard on the news. Floods on this scale don't usually happen around here, in the semi-arid middle of the country, so it's been sort of an unpleasant shock for everyone. Some of it has struck very close to my school and neighborhood.
Thankfully, my family and I are safe and our basement has endured no flooding, but it's been pretty crazy and school has been cancelled for FOUR WHOLE DAYS and my school district NEVER cancels. Ever.
